Dear Applicant:

The Italian American Community Center, Inc. (lACC) is located in the Town of Gates. Its mission is to preserve the Italian-American heritage and culture in the Greater Rochester Area. It is a 501-c3-not-for-profit organization.

The Italian American Community Center is sponsoring a scholarship to a deserving college-bound or collegian young woman. The recipient will receive a $500.00 award. To qualify, the candidate must have achieved outstanding scholastic recognition, ranking in the top 10% of her class or possess a GPA above 3.67; served in public service-oriented activities in our community; and have great respect for her Italian American heritage.

Applicants must currently reside and attend school in the Monroe County area, and have at least one parent who is of Italian descent. Application must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2007. The selected candidate will be awarded at the IACC Women of the Year Awards to be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

Funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university the student will be attending as soon as official confirmation is received from that Institution that the scholarship recipient has been admitted, enrolled as a full time student and has commenced attendance.

Candidates should submit the completed application to the scholarship committee at the address listed below. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than January 31, 2008. Our scholarship committee requests that a representative of the Italian American Community Center be present at the recipient's school when the school holds its awards assembly to make the scholarship presentation.

The scholarship recipients will be recognized and must be present at a special dinner, on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Italian American Community Center.
